AvaTrade Partner Code 128979: What Actually Happens When You Use It

Every few weeks someone asks me about partner codes. Always the same thing: do they give you free trades or discounted spreads?

Nope. AvaTrade charges zero commission on forex. You pay the spread. That's your trading cost. A partner code has no impact on spreads.

What 128979 does is unlock the welcome bonus. Extra funds in your account based on how much you put in. Simple as that.

How much do you get?

A $1,000 deposit gets you $200.

Put in $2,000, get $400.

$5,000 to $9,999 adds $1,000.

Top tier is $14,000 on deposits over $100,000. Most people won't hit that.

UK accounts start at £160 for £800 deposited. Top tier reaches £11,200.

Minimum to open an account is $100. But you need $1,000 to qualify for bonus.

The field is hidden

When you're signing up. After you enter your phone number, you'll see small text reading "Have a Partner Code?". Click the arrow. A field drops down. Type **128979**.

Easy to miss since it's collapsed by default.

If you see an error, it's fine. Go ahead and register anyway. Contact support before funding. Tell them you want 128979 applied. They handle this regularly.

There's a catch with the bonus

You need to trade a certain volume.

Roughly 10,000 units traded per $1 bonus. $200 bonus requires 2,000,000 units of trading volume. Slower if you're trading micro lots. Active traders hit it quicker than expected.

Your deposit is yours. Access it whenever you need. Bonus funds remain locked until volume is met.

Something useful to understand: while the bonus is locked, it still counts toward your margin. Allows for slightly larger trades. For someone still learning, that buffer can keep you in the game long enough to figure things out.
